The original concept was conceived by Michael Bell, regarding the "stuff" artists collect and the ephemera of our studio and domestic spaces that inform our creative lives. We are hoping to curate a diverse exhibition - linking objects with the people who collect them. From artwork and objects or materials amassed during your years as a practicing artist to random curiosities, childhood toys, old books, posters, records and postcards, travel trinkets, inherited antiques. Whatever it is you collect and however it does (or does not) relate to you or your own art practice, we want to see it!
Important dates and information for exhibitors:
- Expression of interest forms returned - with photos, descriptions and dimensions of objects - Friday 30 March
*We are aware this exhibition has gotten off to a disorganised start, particularly with the dates having to change, so we are willing to be flexible - If you do not have photographs or exact dimensions please provide us with as much detail as you have, and photographs & dimensions can be gathered by our team during the interview stage (where applicable).
*Due to research projects and collection of other documentation associated with this exhibition we greatly appreciate your prompt reply!
- Interviews - to be conducted either in person or by email from 26 March to 27 April (during week 8,9 & 10,11 of semester 1, or over the easter holiday period in between.)
*If you are happy being interviewed in person let us know and we can set up a date a.s.a.p for a member of our team to meet with you. We are hoping to collect video interviews and photographs of artists and collectors with their objects and collections in situ (where possible). Interviews will be kept brief and explore your collection's history, provenance, personal significance or relationship to your own art practice. These will hopefully be aired in the A.V space during the exhibition, and photographs may appear in either a catalogue or wall panel. These materials may also appear on the blog we are using to promote the exhibition, however no personal information or images will be published or shared without your consent.
*If you would prefer to be interviewed by email we will send you a short questionnaire shortly after we have received your expression of interest form, please fill out as much as possible and return by April 27/ week 10 of semester 1 (but the sooner the better!)
